LGU-SF conducts barangay onsite assessment and validation on SGLG 2023: symbol of integrity, commitment to general welfare.
Local Government Unit of San Fernando, Bukidnon (LGU-SFB) headed by Municipal Mayor, Hon. Rogelio C. Yeke, together with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) head, Clarence Lynn T. Makinano, MLGOO, administers Onsite Assessment and Validation on the Seal of Good Local Governance for barangays (SGLGB) in all the twenty-four (24) barangays of San Fernando, Bukidnon starting off on March 08, 2023 to May 02, 2023.
SGLG for Barangay Evaluation team composed of different agencies/offices is tasked to validate the barangays basing on the indicators assigned to each agency/office.
Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a performance assessment and recognition system that aims to give distinction to barangays with remarkable performance across various governance areas. It also intends to encourage barangays to continuously progress in delivering efficient, equitable and quality public services. It puts primacy to integrity and good performance as pillars of meaningful local autonomy and development.
Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) also aims to: a. assess performance of the barangays and generate information that are useful in policy program development, both at the local and international government levels b. look into the feasibility of the new SGLGB implementation arrangement c. serve as additional information in the regular review and evaluation of the Council of Good Local Governance (CGLG) d. serve as one of the bases in determining capacity development interventions, pursuant to DILG MC No. 2021-067, “Adoption of a Capacity Development (CAPDEV) Framework in the Planning, Design and Implementation for LGU’s and, e. endeavor “ONE AUDIT” for barangays, in response to the clamor of the DILG field offices and barangays to integrate to the SGLGB the various Barangay-Based Institutions (BBIs) functionality audits.
is more than just an Award or Recognition for Philippine Local Governments (LGUs). It is a symbol of honesty, good character, and devotion to the welfare of people. SGLG promotes good local government performance, environmental management, and peace and security.
SGLG Act has four measures designed to support LGUs’ commitment to good governance: expanding standards, establishing Local Good Governance Committees, providing SGLG Financial Incentives, and building capacity to support more affected. It is an initiative to monitor the anti-corruption performance of LGUs and local governments. It urges local governments to monitor the welfare of their constituencies and enforce existing laws. Further, it is the ongoing commitment of the municipal government to continuous operational improvements in all areas.
With all the resources being given to the many sectors of society, the Municipality of San Fernando Bukidnon thrives on being the best it can be. Maintaining the standards for transparency, integrity, and service delivery as it manages 10 governance areas: (1) Financial Administration and Sustainability; (2) Disaster Preparedness, (3) Social Protection and Sensitivity; (4) Health Compliance and Responsiveness; (5) Sustainable Education, (6) Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; (7) Safety, Peace and Order; (8) Environmental Management, (9) Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and (10) Youth Development.
All these areas serve as symbol of the municipality’s journey towards effective local governance since 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.
The new management continues to maintain the standards of being an outstanding municipality in the province of Bukidnon despite the difficulties and challenges besetting San Fernando Bukidnon for the benefit of the people of San Fernando. # # #
